Gary Vaynerchuk, The Clipart business and Passive income.

Lately i've been working on building my business. One Tongue Soup. I had set up shop on Etsy over a year ago and sold art prints of my artwork.  I made 20 sales and that felt amazing and validating. What I did not enjoy so much was the packaging, the shipping, the dealings with the printers etc...So...as my enthusiasm dwindled so did my Etsy shop. What always did bring in some money was and still does is my istockportfolio account. Since 2008 I have made steady stream of sales from my vector illustrations...without adding any more content. Realistically speaking I am not the best vector artist out there. I know that. I can see it. BUT the sales have not stopped trickling in even if I haven't added a new illustration in 8 years. Of course the sales are not even close to being enough to allow me to quit my day job but it did light a spark in me concerning passive income.

Why not get into the clipart business?

Selling cliparts on Etsy for other small craft business owners who do not have the same illustration skills as Ido but are looking to add unique images to their own designs. Or simply sell to the Scrapbooking community. Looking at clipartists on Etsy I've noticed the top sellers are now up to 200 000 sales and more! For an average of 2$ the file ...you do the math.

Passive income.

My istockportfolio is passive income, I want more of that.  In order for me to get into that market I need to get more knowledge about social media marketing. So I made a Facebook Page, I share on Pinterest but not seeing anything come of this yet. I need more knowledge. One of my collegues has a Facebook page on his business reviewing baseball equipement. His views for his post can go up to 15k! How does he do it?

Have you heard of Gary Vaynerchuk? My collegue is the one who turned me on to him. This guy is a social media marketing goldmine.
For example : one of the tips he shared that really stood out for me is how you can't approach every social media plateform in the same way. Facebook is for connecting to others, relationships. Pinterest is more female oriented, Tumbler more for animated gifs.

He has two books out that I would recommend. Listen to his podcast show called  AskGaryV and soak up the knowledge. The guy is really motivating, I'm telling you,

So here is a link to my Esty shop, let me know if you have any ideas on how I can improve my site,
As of now I've got 0 sales. Can't go anywhere but up from here,

 https://www.etsy.com/ca/shop/OneTongueSoup?ref=hdr_shop_menu

But most importantly here is Gary Vaynerchuk's books 1. Crush it
which is geared towards people like me who are just starting out, learning the ins ans outs of social media marketing

The second one is Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook for the more advanced in the field, he really goes into details to explore the marketing goldmine that is social media.

Jim carrey and his 10 million dollar check

“Money is usually attracted, not pursued.” – Jim Rohn

In 1990 struggling actor Jim Carrey decided to call upon the universe to achieve financial abundance. He decided to write himself a check for 10 million dollars and dated it for Thanksgiving 1995.
He wrote on the memo section of the check: «for acting services rendered» and stuffed the check in his wallet.

By 1995 he starred in Ace Ventura pet detective,  the Mask etc.. and surpassed his initial 10 million dollar goal.
So it worked?

Can writing yourself a check really manifest financial freedom? No idea, but I'm willing to try.

I will take a blank check and write it out for 1 million dollars. I will make the check out to myself and in the memo section (on the bottom of the check ) I will write : «from my online art and blog services.»
(I make illustrations and have my art set up on a few websites but plan to really dig in and do the work to expand my business...more on this later).
I read it's important to offer the universe a service of some sort in return so if you are planning on doing this with me, do not leave that bottom part blank, fill it out.

Since I am 37 years old now, I will date my check three years from now, on my 40th birthday, which is a significant date (for obvious reasons) I read somewhere that I should write that the check comes from The Universe (or God or whatever else rings true with you.)

I'm following Jim Carrey's footsteps and will stick it in my wallet. You can pin it on your fridge or bathroom mirror just somewhere you will see it everyday. And then, I will let the Universe answer my call!

Afterall if Jim Carrey gave that famous commencement speech at Maharishi University of Management’s class of 2014 explaining how he is an example of how one can manifest wealth in their lives. Maybe...just maybe it can happen for all of us.

Here is a snippet of that famous inspiring speech:

«So many of us choose our path out of fear disguised as practicality. What we really want seems impossibly out of reach and ridiculous to expect, so we never dare to ask the universe for it. I’m saying, I’m the proof that you can ask the universe for it — please! (applause) And if it doesn’t happen for you right away, it’s only because the universe is so busy fulfilling my order. It’s party size! (laughter)»

Something else that merits listening to is the  interview he gave while on the Oprah show Oprah's lifeclass» watching, on the power of intention and visualization.

And if this pique's your interest why not check the excellent book from acclaimed author Dr.Wayne Dyer on the power of intention, This book has had amazing life changing reviews, check it out!

Formal education will make you a living; self-education will make you a fortune. Jim Rohn

Formal education will make you a living; self-education will make you a fortune.
Jim Rohn

Hi! Welcome to my blog. I have decided to embark on this journey to self transformation. I am a 37 year old woman on a quest to elevate my living standards, my self affirmation financial freedom, just in an all around journey to self transformation. I am interested and open to any method and tool I discover on my way to attaining the life I want.

Okay if I am perfectly honest the idea of financial freedom, no more credit card debt, having my mortgage paid off and attracting abundant amounts of money by doing the things I love is very attractive. Why is it that people don't find that focusing on attracting money as noble a quest as say searching for inner harmony? While listening to a podcast I love : Operation Self Reset by Jacob Nawrocki and he had this guest speaker on James Goi Jr. wrote on the subject of attracting money, How to attract money using mind power.  He spoke of being able to clear a 10 k credit card debt using visualisation and affirmation. that one should  focus first on attaining financial freedom to get those worries out of the way and therefore freeing up space to focus on improving other aspects of oneself. I can't argue with common sense. This makes sense to me, this speaks to me.

I've started using affirmations to imagine my credit card being paid off and my house being paid off.
What if this works!? I'm giving this a go because I believe in the power of thought and manifesting.

Here is the link to the James Goi Jr. book I was referring too, Worth a read.

Later on I will be looking into visualisation and the check writing exercise Jim Carry talked about.
